Initial Consultation

What is the Initial Consultation?

The Initial Consultation is a non-clinical appointment for us to meet together, discuss your goals and current health background, and review service options. It’s also an opportunity for you to meet me and see if I am a good fit for your needs.

Can I Discuss How Different Packages Can Be Combined?

Yes! People often have more than one health concern, and the Initial Consultation will enable us to determine which Routine Health package best matches your primary goals and how other routine health needs may be combined or integrated. For example, the needs of menopause and hypothyroidism are often combined.

This appointment will also enable us to discuss how to plan services for both Routine Health and Digestive Health.

What Happens if There is Time Left Over in the Initial Consultation?

Any remaining time in the Initial Consultation appointment can be “banked” for future follow-up services after taking a package.

Does Taking an Initial Consultation Automatically Mean I Can Take Additional Services?

Intake information will be reviewed to determine whether your needs fall within my scope of practice and whether I am the appropriate provider to support your care, and where needed, I may recommend alternative or additional clinical support.

How Much Does the Initial Consultation Cost?

Since it is a non-clinical appointment, the Initial Consultation is offered at a lower rate than Clinical Nutrition Appointments. Cost: $125 (GST exempt), 50 minutes

Questions and Answers

Q: My partner and I are both interested in taking services and would like to take an Initial Consultation together. Is this possible?

A: Since I need to interact with each of you individually to understand each of your needs and then discuss together, for charting and billing purposes, these will be two sequential appointments, with both of you attending at the same time. Any remaining time on each Initial Consultation can be banked for future follow-up services, should you decide to move forward with packages.

Q: I don’t need a whole package. Can I meet with you, and you can just answer some questions I have about my diet?

A: I trust you understand, but without assessing you, I am unable to provide you with dietary recommendations.

Q: I would like my daughter to see you, but she is a minor, so how does that work?

A: I have experience working with children from age 12 and up and would be happy to meet with her. Usually, if the child is young, I meet with one of the parents with the child to discuss the child’s clinical needs, and then for a few minutes one-on-one with the child so they can ask me any questions and to help build rapport.
